Jaw clicking, locking, headaches, neck pain, worn-down teeth? You may have TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). We diagnose, treat and manage it at our Wimbledon Village practice, no need to be referred away.
Clinical examination, bite analysis & treatment plan. Callback within one working hour.
TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) affects roughly 1 in 10 adults, yet it's often missed because the symptoms don't obviously look like a dental problem. Frequent headaches, clicking when you chew, jaw locking, neck and shoulder tension, worn-down front teeth from grinding, ear pain, all can stem from TMD.
At our Wimbledon practice, TMD treatment usually starts with a thorough clinical exam, a bite analysis to identify what's actually causing the strain, and (most commonly) a custom-made bite splint to wear at night. Most patients see significant improvement within 4β8 weeks. We never jump to surgery, non-invasive treatments resolve the vast majority of cases.
Modern Wimbledon life, high-stress City jobs, working parents, postgraduate exams, is a perfect recipe for jaw clenching and night grinding (bruxism). Most patients don't even know they grind their teeth. We see significant tooth wear in patients across SW19 who first came to us thinking they had "headache problems" or "sensitive teeth", when the underlying cause was TMD all along. Early diagnosis prevents tooth fractures, gum recession and chronic pain.
All prices confirmed in writing before treatment.
TMD treatment pricing is available on request, please contact us or book a consultation for a personalised quote. Most patients see significant improvement with a splint alone.
Clicking or popping in the jaw, frequent headaches (especially morning), jaw locking, worn-down front teeth, neck or shoulder tension, ear pain without infection, and difficulty opening the mouth wide. If you have several of these, it's worth being assessed.
Almost certainly not. The vast majority of TMD cases resolve with non-surgical treatment, a bite splint, jaw exercises, stress management and sometimes orthodontic correction. Surgery is a last resort and rarely needed.
Most patients notice improvement within 4β8 weeks of wearing a properly fitted splint nightly. Complex cases may need 3β6 months and combined therapies.
